Weekend Recap Aug 13, 2023

Tough day Sunday for us with all 3 of our teams losing, with each team doing well in one of the batting and bowling departments, but not both.

Division 3 got us started, playing only their 2nd game of the season in mid August! Jawad Naimat struck in the first over, and Raj Suhagiya picked up a wicket to have East Coast at 2/33 after 7 overs. From here, not much went our way as they piled on 170 from their 20, with only one further wicket to Jawad who ended with great figures of 2/13 off, Raj just as good with 1/16 off 4. Hassan Hafeez led our chase with his best innings since joining us, hitting 39 off 38 balls, but otherwise there wasn't the big innings that we required, numerous guys chipping in with 10-15 each as we were all out in the last over for 132. A good team batting effort but not enough on the day. Scorecard

Our Div 1 team were next up, and put together a great bowling effort to keep Titans to 131 all out off the full 20 overs. Wickets were shared, Zeeshan Ansari and Shadab Ahmed taking 2 each, with skipper Sagar Mandan, Daksh Talwar and Priyank Trivedi taking one each. Unfortunately our strong batting lineup could never get going in the chase, only Div 1 debutant Marshal Bhatti impressing with 27 off 22 balls. All out 88, 43 runs short. The team is still at the top of the standings however, and have bounced back numerous times before. Scorecard

Last up were our Div 2 team, also against Titans. Batting first, new look opening pair of Rudy Audikesavalu and skipper Tushar Sehgal put on 39 in 5 overs to give us the momentum. The dominant partnership would be between Rudy and Dhruv Mohta (26 off 14), who put together 49 runs from 28 balls for the 4th wicket. Jawad also played a quick cameo of 14 off 8 balls. Through all of this, Rudy played his best knock as a Cannon, bringing up his first fifty and batting through to the 20th over, unselfishly run out for 70 (58 balls) attempting to keep the strike. All out 159 off 20. In slippery conditions, our bowlers did well to keep Titans to 4/66 off their first 10 overs. As a thick fog came over the ground making the ball hard to see in the field, Titans middle order played very well to take the game away from us and chase our total down with 8 balls to spare without losing another wicket.
